The fishing port of Dong Hoi is located half way between Vinh and Hue. While there are a few beaches, the real attraction lies 55 kilometres from the town. The the Phong Nga cave system, designated a World Heritage Site in 2000, is a natural wonder and stretches way underground.The main cavern is almost 8km long with uncharted kilometres of passageways and river caves adjoining. The remains of an ancient Cham temple also lie inside the cave which is accessed by boat.
